People that are legitimately depressed are not open about it, the actual chemicals in your brain don't allow you to be okay sharing. You're just an attention whore.

The chemicals in my brain don’t make me secretive about it either. When I first discovered my depression I was very secretive about it. And I stayed that way for about 7 years. But when I started high-school I was sent to a guidance counselor who sent me to a mental hospital. From there I had to get a letter saying I was “safe” before I was allowed back into school. I was only allowed back if I agreed to go to therapy. I decided on group therapy and it was only then that I started to get more comfortable sharing my depression with a few people (even though it did take a year) and from there my friends. Now I’ve come to terms with the fact that this is something that isn’t going away, and it’s just as much a part of me as my eyes and nose, so I don’t need to hide it anymore. I don’t go around just talking about it; I talk to my friends or use my blog to vent on bad days. And honestly, you can call me an attention-whore all you want because I know that’s not true. Petty insults from anons don’t bother me. Because frankly, if you’re too big of a coward to say what you want to say without hiding behind that anon button, then what you say isn’t shit anyway. Like I said before, if you don’t like my blog, unfollow it (it’s really, very simple). Ta-ta, have a lovely day.

To all my followers: Take note that this is not an ok thing to say.

It’s not even just that got me, I mean, can the anon cite sources where it says ANYWHERE that ‘chemicals in your brain don’t allow you to be open about it?’ lmao

the glorification of kurt cobain and demonization of courtney love is so discouraging but a reminder that if you’re a man and you’re an abrasive, provocative, drug-addled musician then you’re the voice of a generation but if you’re all of those things and a woman, you’re a junkie succubus

oystergirlrhymes:

This semester I went to the White Privilege Conference in Madison, WI for my honors seminar about examining privilege. I made a poster about the behaviors of particular white female musicians who appropriate other cultures as a means of identity and sexualize/objectify WOC as a means of displaying sexual agency and social power. All under the guise of “empowerment”.

This is my take on the knowledge I found through seminar and readings, (esp. online articles) so in no way do I claim these ideas or concepts as my own.
